About

Keren-or Ben Shachar is an Israeli contemporary dancer, choreographer and teacher based in Copenhagen.

In her choreographic works, Keren touches relatable themes that brings human experiences to the front through dance, theatricality, and a sense of humor. Her creations performed at theatres and festivals in Belgium, Portugal, Israel, The Netherlands and Denmark.

Following her education at ArtEZ University of the Arts (NL) she has collaborated on various projects as a dancer and choreographer, within the fields of dance, visual arts and film. As a dancer she has worked with a variety of choreographers and artists, including Alexandra Pirici, Daniel Barkan, Ian Ancheta, Idan Sharabi, Caroline Finn and more. 

In 2019 she co-founded Lazy Susan & co., dance company (NL). Within this group Keren actively works as dancer and choreographer and involved in its management, production, and artistic direction.

Prior to dancing, Keren trained acting, swimming, and Karate. Following her formal dance education her interest in floor work and improvisation has led her to participating in several month-long intensives of Flying Low / Passing Through with the techniques’ inventor David Zambrano [PT 2019, GR 2019]. Besides performing herself, Keren also teaches on a professional level in companies and dance academies, often combining her knowledge of Flying Low with more explosive and acrobatic movement.

Besides dancing, Keren is currently studying B.SC. Biology through the Open University (UK) part-time, which she is set to graduate with in 2026.
